Opening & Interval acts

On 30 April 2022, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the official website of the Eurovision Song Contest and the host Italian public broadcaster RAI published information about the opening act and the interval act of the contest.

The opening of the 66th edition of the continental contest features a final result: back in April, the Italian-rooted but international initiative Rockin’ 1000 played a clockwork performance in Turin, playing Charpentier’s Te Deum, the song that identifies the Eurovision Network and the Eurovision Song Contest, recorded for the local promotion of the song contest. The recording will debut tonight as the opener of the final in Turin. Once again, the show will be kicked off with the traditional Flag Parade, where the Grand Final countries will take to the stage in the order of the finalists. Also part of the opening is a vocal performance by this year’s leading lady, singer Laura Pausini, who will sing a combination of La solitudine and Scatola.

The competing productions and the announcement of the results will be separated by guest performances, but the Italian organisers have again set the standard for the additional performances high. Last year’s Eurovision winner Måneskin will be returning from Los Angeles for the final – expected to perform Zitti e buoni and the song premiere of Supermodel, a song from the OurVision FM music selection. The first Italian winner of the 1964 edition, Gigliola Cinquetti, will perform his competition song Non ho l’età, and international pop star Mika, who will be presenting this week, will also sing, bringing his most popular songs.
