Maximum safety is still the most important

The rapid ticket sales suggested that either there was a shortage of seats for spectators and fans or that ticket prices were low. The latter is, of course, a purse-driven issue, but there were indications back in February that RAI would not be able to sell the full capacity of the PalaOlimpico.

As recently as mid-February, ESCXtra reported in an interview that the Italian public broadcaster was only able to accommodate 65% of the capacity at the Turin venue due to the current restrictions of the Crown virus. Guido Rossi, head of RAI’s Turin TV production centre, said at the time that the 400 volunteers working on the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest were the main reason, but he also pointed out that

they hope “to be able to work at maximum capacity in May, guaranteeing safety.”

At the time of publication of the ESCXtra article, ticket holders entering the arena at 65% full will be required to wear a mask during the event.

In case you missed out on tickets… last-minute options

Neither the EBU nor the RAI have sent a substantive response to our assumption above regarding full capacity, but if the possibility of buying tickets reopens, we will be sure to let you know on our social media platforms. However, if the number of seats available is not increased, further options are possible but remain limited.

If you are a member of a national member organisation of the OGAE (Organisation Générale des Amateurs de l’Eurovision) international fan network, you should contact your local member to enquire about the possibility of requesting a ticket package.

However, the last hope remains in the most official way: Eurovision.tv will also offer a way to resell unused tickets in 2022. Those who are likely to want to withdraw from the event will be able to make their tickets available only and exclusively through the FanSale.it website. Resale will be possible between Thursday 14 April 2022 at 10:00 (CEST) and Thursday 5 May 2022 at 18:00 (CEST), resale on any other site is expressly prohibited.
