Interval Acts in Semi-final 1

On Tuesday 12 May, the First Semi-Final will open with a journey through time, demonstrating that the seven-decade history of the Eurovision Song Contest represents 70 Years of Love: a film that portrays the life of a couple set against the backdrop of the world’s biggest live music show.

A 70-member choir will then launch the First Semi-Final with a tribute to L’amour Est Bleu – one of the most popular Eurovision hits of all time. The song was performed when the city of Vienna first hosted the Contest, in 1967.

Nearly 60 years have passed since 15-year-old Vicky first performed this song representing Luxembourg when Vienna hosted the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 1967. That performance launched one of the most extraordinary careers in Eurovision history—Paul Mauriat’s instrumental cover of the song shot to the top of the U.S. Billboard charts and reached the Top 40 in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Japan, and Germany, and became one of the most beloved anthems in Eurovision history.

Vicky, of course, made a triumphant return to the contest in 1972 with the song “Après Toi,” which brought Luxembourg its third victory and captured the hearts of Europe with her unforgettable voice. With over 55 million records sold, 466 albums in eight languages, and worldwide concert tours, Vicky Leandros is a true Eurovision superstar.

While the votes are coming in, the interval act Kangaroo will see our hosts Victoria Swarovski and Michael Ostrowski finally settle how to easily distinguish Austria from Australia, via a light-hearted musical performance. They will be joined by the Milkshake Man, Go-Jo, who represented Australia at Basel 2025!

Voting

In participating countries, instructions on how to vote will be on screen during the broadcasts. Voting opens after the last song has been performed at the Semi-Finals. You can vote up to 10 times, and you’ll have under 20 minutes to do so.

You can only vote in the Semi-Final in which your country is competing. Of the countries that have automatically qualified for the final, Germany and Italy can vote in the first semi-final, while Austria, France, and the United Kingdom can vote in the second semi-final.

For non-participating countries, voting will again be in two rounds in 2026: the first round will be open to “Rest of the World” countries from 12:00 a.m. on the day of the semi-final until the start of the live broadcast, and then the voting window will reopen for approximately 15–20 minutes after the final songs have been performed.
