Breaking the recently introduced schedule, the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take place on Saturday 16 November 2024 at 18:00 (cet) instead of Sunday afternoon at the Caja Mágica in Madrid, the Spanish capital – watch the live coverage with us!

In 2024, Spain will host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the children’s version of one of Europe’s most popular television shows, for the first time. The opening of the competition week was once again the Opening Ceremony, but after a long period of silence, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Spanish public broadcaster RTVE did not broadcast the event online or release any press releases.

About the presenters, the running order and the voting of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 Madrid

A 17 részt vevő országgal a 2024-es Junior Eurovíziós Dalfesztiválon 2021 óta a legmagasabb lesz a versenyző országok száma.

On 3 September this year, the EBU and RTVE announced that a total of 17 public broadcasters from 17 countries will compete in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024. Cyprus will return to the competition for the first time since 2017, having previously participated 9 times and hosted the competition in 2008. San Marino returns to the Junior Eurovision after a 9-year hiatus and has participated in three competitions so far. With 17 countries participating, the 2024 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be the highest number of countries competing since 2021.

Martin Österdahl, Executive Supervisor for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest said: “It’s our pleasure to be welcoming young and talented artists from 17 countries to Madrid in November for the 22nd Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

“We’re also thrilled to be welcoming back two countries, Cyprus and San Marino, to the competition. It has been a long time since Spain has hosted a Eurovision event and RTVE’s excitement to be staging this year’s Contest has been infectious! We are looking forward to a wonderful week ahead of us in November.”

In the months leading up to the 16 November competition, there was a flurry of news about the 2024 event: while in September the presenters were revealed, in October the starting order and the draw were announced.

The 2024 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will have three presenters: Eurovision star and former Benidorm Fest presenter Ruth Lorenzo (ESC ESP14) will be on hosting duties alongside superstar of Spanish film and television Marc Clotet. And completing the lineup we have a name that will be familiar to many Junior Eurovision fans – Melani García (JESC ESP19), who brought Spain a bronze-medal result at the Contest in 2019, with her song Marte.

This year’s slogan and theme is “Let’s Bloom”, referring to the blossoming of young artists who will take to the stage and perform at the event. Spectators can expect a veritable bouquet of beautiful decorations at the venue: the concept of blooming will be carried over to the Caja Mágica stage, with organic elements throughout the show.

Voting is also shorter this year… In 2024, voting will open the evening before the Live Show, and close just before the broadcast has started. A second voting window will open once all songs have been performed. For details, click on our summary of the voting…
