Eurovision in Budapest – The Sziget Festival 2024 Eurovision programme guide

On 7 August, The Sziget Festival 2024 Eurovision line-up will kick off, not just the festival itself – this year, a total of five performers from five countries will come to Budapest to meet the Festival audience and bring the Eurovision atmosphere to the Hungarian capital. Find out who will be coming to The Island of Freedom in 2024.

To sum up this year’s Sziget Eurovision line-up, the first two nights of the Festival will span several seasons, and will be spent by the participants of the continental competition. We can say that not only have our favourites flown to Budapest from Malmö, but we will also see and hear performances from the last 5-10 years of Eurovision on the Shipyard Island, with the EUROfansCLUB afterparty.

The Sziget Festival 2024 Eurovision line-up

It is important to #OpenUp: this is no different for Sziget. While we don’t clearly remember whether the Eurovision launch or the Sziget programme came first, the Netherlands’ 2024 bid could well kick-start Óbuda’s biggest party. Of course, we can’t ignore the unfortunate fact that Joost (NLD24) didn’t make it to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo (more on the details in a bit later…), but he’s guaranteed to be a success here and on the Sziget…

Or next year at Eurovision – only then in Belgium… who knows… One thing is for sure: Europapa is coming to Budapest…

Night butterflies in the Magic Mirror

There will also be a special stage at the Sziget, used by Eurovision stars – but for one night only. On the night of 7 to 8 August, the Magic Mirror will host this year’s popular Eurovision acts, courtesy of EUROfansCLUB. The guys behind the after parties have brought together the party queens of the past few years – Senhit, Suzy and Kaleen – on a single stage.

We first saw Senhit (SMR11, SMR-Q20, SMR21) on the Düsseldorf stage in 2011, when she launched with Stand By – which was clearly a whole new sound, like Freaky! in 2020 and ADRENALINA, which exploded on the stage in 2021, where she invited American rapper FLO RIDA to join her.

Although Suzy and Kaleen have each competed in Eurovision once, it’s far from saying they haven’t made a mark. Suzy (PRT14) won the then 50th anniversary Festival da Canção and made it to the semi-finals in Copenhagen with her exotic Portuguese song, and although she didn’t make it to Saturday’s final with her performance of Quero Ser Tua, she is still a hit – and not just with Eurovision fans…

Austria is one country you can’t really put a price on when it comes to Eurovision performances: every year, the Austrian ORF presents a very diverse line-up – and we suspect that will be the case next year, as they have already confirmed their participation in Switzerland.

If we look back a decade or so, we can say that after their victory in 2014, the Austrians first went for more lyrical songs in general, and then upped the tempo in the last few years… We’re still totally baffled by this year’s 24th, or penultimate, place, but we think Kaleen’s (AUT24) rave will be one of the party anthems for a long time to come, so We Will Rave is 100% one of the most anticipated songs of the night of 7 August…

Closure on the Main Stage

If you’ve recovered from a sultry night of Dutch-San Marino-Portuguese-Austrian pop-rap-techno, the Eurovision “closing” will be on the Main Stage of Sziget Festival 2024 on the afternoon of 8 August.

Following on from Kaleen, Joker Out (SLO23) also comes from our western neighbours: in the closing of the Sziget Festival Eurovision line-up, we are almost certain to hear Liverpool’s Slovenian competition song – Carpe Diem, in keeping with the spirit of the Festival.

Eurovision star brings energetic finale with DJ set to Sziget Festival

We almost lost sight of it, but the editor of OurVision was quick on the uptake: the final day of the Sziget will be boosted by the bass guitarist of the band Måneskin (ITA21), Victoria De Angelis, who burst onto the scene and won the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. Victoria (ITA21 – as the member of Måneskin), who also acts as a disc jockey, is hopping over from the capital of neighbouring Romania for the closing day of the Festival, and we’re almost certain that the set she’ll be bringing will be a great starter for late waking festival-goers – not to mention what if you happen to be a Eurovision fan and happen to be at the venue and the song you hear is Zitti e buoni (we don’t know, we just hope at this point. .. let us know)…
