On 5 April, the Norwegian public broadcaster NRK announced the 11 countries that will be the participants of Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 Bodø at the event in August.

The summer is not complete without a live Eurovision event: the 21st edition of Eurovision Young Musicians will take place on 17 August 2024, with the host broadcaster NRK having chosen Bodø in the Arctic Circle as the venue.

Participants of Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 Bodø

The Norwegian public broadcaster announced in early April that, contrary to what had been previously announced, 11 broadcasters’ entrants will be allowed to participate instead of ten. (The EBU still allowed a total of ten entrants for the 2024 Eurovision for Young Musicians competition in 2023, but clarified in January this year that ten more entrants could be entered in addition to the host broadcaster.) The Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 Bodø contestants will include Armenia (AMPTV), Austria (ORF), Belgium (RTBF), Czech Republic (CT), France (France Télévisions), Germany (WDR), Norway (NRK), Poland (TVP), Serbia (RTS), Sweden (SVT) and Switzerland (SRF) – the final will be broadcast on TV and radio in these countries at the end of the summer.

The 2024 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest for classical music will take place at the Stormen Concert Hall as part of the European Capital of Culture programme, with tickets now on sale. The two hosts of Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 Bodø were announced at the final of the Norwegian version of the Hungarian classical music talent show Virtuosos on 6 April 2024: Silje Nordnes and Mona Berntsen will be on hand to welcome the audience at the venue and during the televised broadcast.

About Eurovision Young Musicians in a nutshell

Young classical instrumentalists aged between 12 and 21 compete for glory and fame and a future international soloist career. The competition is considered one of the most important in the world and has been organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) since 1982.

The classical music competition has already attracted entries from 43 public broadcasters from EBU member countries; out of the 20 competitions, 5 times an Austrian entrant (1988, 1998, 2002, 2004, 2014) has won the Eurovision Young Musicians trophy, 3 times a Polish contestant has taken first place, and Germany and the Netherlands have presented 2-2 winning classical music talents.
