Junior Eurovision Song Contest
The Nice stage and the presenters – France Télévisions has released more details of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest at the Palais Nikaïa on 27 September 2023.
The Grand Final in France at the end of November is expected to draw 5,000 people and will be the second time the country has hosted the event, having won in 2020 and 2022 with Valentina and Lissandro respectively. The Nice stage and presenters for 2023 – that’s what we know now, almost a month into preparations for this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
The Opening Ceremony will take place on Monday 20 November at the stunning Le Negresco and will be broadcast on France 4 and the official Junior Eurovision YouTube channel. The red carpet of the world-famous Promenade des Anglais will be the stage for 16 countries in 2023.
The order of the performances will also be announced at the opening ceremony. The draw will again be based on two conditions: France will host the event, so the number of French contestants on stage will be announced, as well as the country that will start the show on 26 November and the country that will close the line-up. The exact order of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest acts will also be decided by the production team with the approval of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
Following the gala, work gets underway as the participants prepare for the Grand Final on Sunday 26 November.
The show will be hosted by Olivier Minne and Laury Thilleman – both presenters with links to music.
Olivier is no stranger to the Eurovision family, too, having hosted Junior Eurovision in 2021 and presented the French votes in 1992 and 1993, as well as providing broadcast commentary from 1995 through 1997. Olivier Minne is a familiar name to French television fans as the host of popular programs such as La Cible and Fort Boyard.
Laury is a French journalist, model, presenter, actress and was crowned Miss France 2011. She has become an emblematic face of France Télévisions in recent years, hosting events such as the Victoires de la Musique and the Fête de la Musique.
Detailed drawings of the Junior Eurovision stage have also been revealed by France Télévisions and all we can say is: c’est fantastique! The 30 metre centrepiece features a 12 metre high screen in the shape of wings, reflecting the desire to fly away, create and imagine.
