Bodø, Norway hosts the Eurovision for Young Musicians 2024 classical music competition

Eurovision Young Musicians will take place on 17 August 2024 in Bodø, Norway hosted by NRK during the city’s tenure as European Capital of Culture.

On 11 July 2023, it was announced that the biennial classical music competition, the Young Musicians’ Eurovision 2024, would be held at the Stormen Concert Hall in Bodø, Norway, following last year’s Paris event, following an announcement by NRK and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

In 2024, Bodø will be one of three cities to take over the title of European Capital of Culture from Veszprém in Hungary, Timișoara in Romania and Eleusis in Greece, and will host the Eurovision Song Contest for young musical talent.

The EBU announced in a Facebook post that ten broadcasting slots are available for the competition. With Norway (NRK) as the host and Slovenia (RTVSLO) already confirmed, eight more countries are still eligible to participate in the 2024 classical music competition.

Eurovision Young Musicians 2022: the latest French Eurovision Song Contest

Exactly one year ago, on Saturday 23 July 2022, the Eurovision Young Musician celebrated its 40th anniversary at the Radio France Occitanie festival in Montpellier.

The event was Produced by Morgane Productions for France Télévisions and involved 9 EBU Members who each brought a talented young classical musician to the show. The competition was won by Czech TV’s violinist Daniel Matejča for a brilliant performance from Shostakovich’s 1st violin concerto.

Daniel received a performance opportunity at the 2023 Festival Radio France Occitanie Montpellier which will take place between 15-30 July 2023 within the 39th edition of the festival. He will perform in a professional context including a public venue, concert promotion, technical rehearsal, a gross fee of 1000 EUR, as well as travel and accommodation costs. The second place prize went to Germany’s Philipp Schupelius and the third place prize to Norway’s Alma Serafin Kraggerud.
